Round 2 Week 2
Posted by Noah on July 24, 2006
The schedule for week 2 of round 2 is now up. It's reasonably complicated to keep track of everything, so it's not inconceivable that I made some mistakes. If anything doesn't look right to you, please let us know.
A quick reminder to captains: please get your scores in as soon as possible after Wednesday's game. The sooner we have all the results from this week, the sooner we can get next week's schedule up. I'll be in touch about setting up fields.

Second Round Schedule
Posted by Noah on July 10, 2006
The schedule for the first week of the second round is now up. Because of the way the second round works (see below), the schedule can only be posted a week at a time. It's very important for captains to get their scores in as soon as possible after their games, because we need all the scores from one week in order to set the following week's schedule.
We can tell you, though, that for the next five weeks teams ranked 1 through 12 will always play late (6:55) and teams ranked 13 through 24 will always play early (5:30) (I'll explain how the ranking works below). Only the middle four teams (11, 12, 13, 14) have the possibility of switching from early to late or vice versa.
As for the schedule itself, for the next five weeks we'll use a ladder system, where each team plays a team ranked right beside it (e.g., 1 vs. 2, 3 vs. 4, 5 vs. 6). The winner of each game will be bumped up one bracket, and the loser will be bumped down one bracket (e.g., if 5 beats 6, 5 will be bumped up to 4 for the following week, 6 will be bumped down to 7 for the following week). As a result, every team's rank will change every week. The only exceptions are the top ranked team, who obviously can't move up even if they win, and the bottom ranked team, who can't move down.
The starting rankings starts with the top team in tier 1 at #1, and ends with the bottom team in tier 3 at #24. The only change we made to this was to swap the bottom team in tier 1 with the top team in tier 2, and the bottom team in tier 2 with the top team in tier 3. This just provides that some teams are playing teams they've never played before in the first week.
This will go on for five weeks, at which point we'll start the playoffs.
