Women's Clinic

We are excited to open up registration for our first Women's Indoor Ultimate Clinic! Come kick off the New Year with 2 hours of skills, drills and scrimmage with your fellow KU ultimate women! We have a fabulous contingent of experienced women's ultimate players ready to help you take your playing to the next level!
When you register please put a comment in the notes section letting us know whether you want to be in the Fundamentals or Advanced group.
1) Ultimate Fundamentals (beginner players and/or relatively new to the sport)
In the first hour, we'll have short periods of instructions followed by skills development drills. We will review the fundamentals of throwing mechanics (backhand/forehand), cutting techniques, effective person-person defence (force/downfield defensive positioning). In the second hour, we'll go over basic ultimate offensive and defensive strategy and spend time scrimmaging.
2) Advanced Ultimate Skills (for intermediate and advanced players; typically playing in Tier 1 or 2 and/or some tournament experience)
In the first hour, we'll have short periods of instructions followed by skills development drills. We will practice break-force throws, timing for up-fields throws, effective footwork for offensive cutting and defensive marking and throwing/receiving deep. In the second hour, we'll go over and practice advanced offensive plays for person-person play and then practice those and a few zone defences in a scrimmage.

Registration will close Saturday January 8, 2022 at 11:00pm. This clinic will accept a maximum of 25 players; once that number is reached, subsequent registrants will be placed on a waiting list in case a spot opens up.

KU Women's Clinic

Winter Leagues
7s Hat and 4v4 teams

7 v 7 Co-Ed Hat League
We will be running our traditional 7v7 Co-Ed Hat League on Friday evenings from 8-9:30pm at the 1000 Island Sportsplex from January 21 - March 25. The cost of the league will be $120 and the league will be capped at 120 players.
4 v 4 Co-Ed League (teams)
This will be a 4v4 Co-Ed league where you enter as a team. Games will be on Mondays from 8-9:30pm at the 1000 Island Sportsplex from January 17 - March 14 (excluding Feb 21 - holiday/reading week). The cost of the league will be $80.
We are capping the league at 6 teams, but if it fills up and there is enough interest to justify booking a second field we may expand the league.
If you don't have a team you can still register as an individual and if other registered teams need additional players, they can recruit you. However, we don't guarantee that we can place individuals that register without a team.
Registration for both leagues will open Monday, November 22 at 11pm and will close December 19 at 11pm.
Lastly, there will be Covid-19 protocols in place which may change as our community case counts change and/or public health advisories change. As well, the Sportsplex is following the vaccine mandate and will require proof of vaccination and photo ID to enter the facility.
