Expanded Age Range for Youth/Junior Winter Leagues
Posted by Joel on January 14, 2025
I've been discussing the age range for our upcoming winter youth league with Pete Galbraith, who heads up our Youth Programming. We've decided to expand the age ranges for each league as there may be circumstances where a child turning 14 this year may want to play in the Middle School League, and conversely, someone who is 13 may want to play in the High School League.
With that in mind I'm going to adjust the age ranges and leave it in the hands of parents and athletes to decide which league suits them best.
Youth League:Anyone turning 10 within 2025 up to anyone turning 14 within 2025
Junior League:Anyone turning 14 within 2025 up to anyone turning 19 within 2025
If you or your child is eligible to play in either league (eg. you are 13 or turning 14) here are a few things to consider when choosing the appropriate league:
Youth League may suit you better if
-You are relatively new to ultimate
-You are on the smaller side for your age
-You have had limited exposure to playing other sports
-You'd rather be at the upper age range of people you are playing with than the youngest
-You have other friends/classmates playing in the league
Junior League may suit you better if
-You have played ultimate before and feel comfortable with your skills
-You are on the taller side for your age
-You have played multiple sports and have a good athletic foundation
-You are comfortable playing with primarily older kids
-You have other friends/classmates playing in the league

Indoor Youth League
Posted by Joel on January 8, 2025
I'm pleased to announce that we will be moving ahead with a 5 week indoor ultimate youth program. The leagues will be aimed at middle and high school aged students that are looking to further develop their skills and have an opportunity to play more ultimate.
The programs will be co-ed and either 4v4 or 5v5.
Location
We will be using the newly renovated "KCVI" gym that now has an indoor turf surface.
The address is 235 Frontenac street, but please enter off of Earl street near the corner of Frontenac Street.
Dates
All sessions will be on Mondays Feb. 3 - Mar. 3
High School students (age 14-18) 4-5:15pm (note: on Feb. 17 the session will be 3:30-4:45pm)
Sessions will start off with a warm up and then we will spend 20 minutes on developing skills as well as furthering team play and strategies. There will then be 45 minutes for scrimmage. Teams will change each week so athletes have a chance to play with different players. We will ensure that teams are balanced so that each team has a similar age, gender and skill level.
Middle school students (age 10-13) 5:15-6:30pm (note: on Feb. 17 the session will be 4:45-6pm)
Sessions will start off with a warm up and then we will spend 30 minutes with drills and fun frisbee games to develop skills such as throwing and cutting. There will then be 35 minutes for scrimmage. We are looking to work with children across all skill levels and abilities. Everyone is welcome.
We have a great group of coaches lined up consisting of players from our two touring teams, Local 613 and King Bear, as well as players from the Queen's open and women's teams.
Cost $75+HST
Registration will open at 8am Wednesday, Jan. 15 and close 11pm on Jan. 29. We will be capping each age group at 20 athletes to ensure lots of attention from our coaches as well as lots of playing time during scrimmages.
To register log into your league account
If you are under the age of 18 and don't have a league account, you'll need a parent or guardian to create one and then add you to their account.

Registration is now open for the indoor winter 4v4 co-ed league. Registration will close Jan. 14.
The league will run Thursday evenings 9-10pm for 9 sessions from Jan. 16 - March 27 (skipping reading week and March break). All games are at the CFB Kingston Sports Dome located at 11 Navy Way. There will be one game each night. The cost of the league is $90/player.
The league will be capped at 8 teams. Each team will need a minimum of 8 players (4 men / 4 women) with a maximum of 12 players. All games will be played with an even 2:2 gender ratio.
